What changed

  • The WSIB's updated First Aid Program took effect on June 22, 2026. It sits under Ontario's first aid regulation (Regulation 1101), which sets how many trained first aiders a workplace needs and what first aid kits and stations must contain.
  • Workplace first aid training now aligns with the national standard CSA Z1210:24. The WSIB is expanding its network of approved training providers to 65 across Ontario and introducing badges so employers can confirm a provider is approved. Only WSIB-approved providers may deliver workplace first aid training in Ontario.
  • Certificates issued by previously approved providers up to June 21, 2026 stay valid until they expire. Workplace first aid certificates from elsewhere in Canada are accepted if they meet CSA Z1210.
