What the rules require

The rules apply to employers with 25 or more employees on the day a job is publicly advertised. For postings made on or after January 1, 2026, the province's guide says employers must:

  • include the expected pay or a pay range, with a range no wider than $50,000 a year (this does not apply where the pay, or the top of the range, is above $200,000 a year);
  • say whether artificial intelligence is used to screen, assess or select applicants;
  • say whether the posting is for an existing vacancy;
  • not require Canadian work experience in the posting or the application form;
  • tell applicants who were interviewed whether a hiring decision has been made, within 45 days of their last interview.

Employers must keep copies of postings and application forms, and records of those notices, for three years.
